The Marie Pampoen Recreation Area is set to enter its final development stage, as Minister of Economic Development Charles Cooper recently unveiled the Phase 4 development sign. This phase aims to enhance the existing beach area, expanding its capacity and upgrading facilities such as parking and restrooms. The project is financed by the Ministry of Economic Development, with Heren2 Caribbean supervising construction and the Curaçao Tourist Board (CTB) managing project coordination.
The Marie Pampoen Recreation Area has been developed in multiple phases to provide recreational and economic benefits to both locals and tourists. Phase 3, officially opened in July 2023, introduced a beach area with nine palapas, a children's play area, an outdoor fitness area with facilities for people with disabilities, a picnic area, a skatepark, a beach volleyball court, four kiosks for commercial activities, a toilet building, and several benches and tables. Additionally, the promenade on Dr. Martin Luther King Boulevard was improved and expanded, with new paths, landscaping, lighting, and installations for water, electricity, and sewage completed.
As the final phase approaches, the CTB and the Government of Curaçao express gratitude to the community for their continued support and encourage everyone to take care of the area to ensure it remains a vibrant space for all.
