Stadsherstel Willemstad Celebrates 35 Years

Congratulations to the management, founders and everyone who has contributed to 35 years of Stadsherstel Willemstad. Since its establishment in 1991, the organization has played an important role in preserving the architectural heritage of Curaçao’s historic capital. Its work reflects a long-term commitment to protecting the city’s character while creating new opportunities for its future.

Stadsherstel Willemstad acquires, restores and manages historic buildings, particularly in Scharloo, Scharloo Abou and Otrobanda. Its mission is to revive the historic city center by giving heritage buildings a new purpose as homes, offices, shops, restaurants and other commercial spaces. Through this approach, the organization helps bring life back to neglected urban areas, supports local businesses and makes Willemstad a more attractive place to live, work and visit. Its contribution extends beyond restoring individual buildings: it helps keep the city’s history alive while creating a foundation for a vibrant and sustainable future.
