The Ministry of Economic affairs has initiated the start phase 3 of the development of the Marie Pompoen waterfront area. The project will be managed by The Curacao Tourism Office. Already cleaning and equalizing of the land has begun. Architects from Heren2 Caribbean have made the designs for this part of the recreational area. It concerns the realization of a recreational strip where, among other things, a playground, a skate-bicycle park, walking paths, an outdoor fitness area, kiosks and palapas will be realized.
The architectural firm has also designed the sports complex that has already been built on site. In Zakito (Corredor) the office is also working on various projects to develop more facilities in this recreation area. In July of last year, a public tender was issued from the architectural office that lead to the selection of a contractor. The original plans for the phased development of this area date back to 2016. This year would mark the completion of this large project.
