Zakitó-Koredor is being renovated by the Curaçao Tourist Office to become a new recreational area for both locals and visitors. The creation of mural art is part of the project to spruce up the region as part of the beautification project. A 135 meter-long design was be created by local artist Sander van Beusekom, the founder of as Blend Creative Imaging. To aid him in making it happen, a painting crew was assembled along with What's Your Story. The architects at Heren2 Caribbean designed palapas, BBQ area and shop in this area in 2021.

Recently, Deputy Director of the Curaçao Tourist Board (CTB), Mr. Hugo Clarinda, and Minister of Economic Development, Mr. Ruisandro Cijntje, representing the Government of Curaçao, signed the finance agreement for the second phase of the Zakito Recreational Area. This next development phase will include beach enhancement, coastal protection, boulevard enhancement, street lighting, landscaping, signage placement, and the installation of electricity and water infrastructure. The Ministry of Economic Development is responsible for funding the project, while the CTB is in charge of overseeing the project. The construction is being supervised by Heren2 Caribbean. Beginning of construction is planned for the second quarter of 2023.
